Hoopersville Morning

This is a plein air painting that I completed one morning when a group of us rented a house on Hoopers Island on Chesapeake Bay, MD for a few days to paint. Hoopersville, the middle island of the three that make up Hoopers Island, is one of those quiet places from the past, where a scattering of vacation homes blend with the working watermen that make their living from the bay. When the tide was high, the road was washed out - and the causeway leading to and from the island was dangerously low with water on both sides! Many of the islands in the Chesapeake will surely be lost within the next few decades.
